PLAIN LANGUAGE, CLEAR EXPECTATIONS

Terms of Service & Privacy Policy

Version 2026-10-22. Applies when you create an account and use Skanner.

Your files aren't a product

We do not sell or rent your uploaded files, scan reports, or account data, or use them for advertising. We process information to provide scanning, operate your account, handle payments, and protect the service.

1. Your account key

Key-based signup does not require an email address or password. Your key grants access to your account, wallet, and reports. Keep a private backup and never share it. We store a hash of the key, not the original key. We cannot recover a lost key or restore access to a key-only account, its funds, or its subscriptions without that key.

2. What we store and why

Scanning requires us to receive and process your file. Uploaded files may be stored for scanning and report access; this is not a zero-storage service. Scan metadata and results, account records, terms acceptance, wallet transactions, and payment references are retained to operate the service. File cleanup depends on the deployment's retention configuration and may be disabled; reports and financial records can outlast uploaded files.

Your browser keeps your account key in session storage for the session. Infrastructure and payment providers may process connection or transaction information needed to deliver their services. Do not upload files you are not authorized to share, or files containing secrets or sensitive personal information you do not want processed.

3. Scanning providers and report links

Local scanner integrations are configured for offline scanning without automatic sample submission. If you explicitly select a supported cloud engine, the file is sent to that provider for analysis and its own privacy and retention terms apply. We cannot guarantee the behavior of proprietary third-party software. Treat report links as sensitive: access depends on the service's authentication configuration, and links may be accessible to anyone who has them.

4. Wallet, subscriptions, and payments

You can deposit funds without a subscription. Without applicable subscription coverage, scan charges are deducted from your wallet at the displayed rate. Daily and monthly subscriptions are prepaid and do not renew automatically. Check prices, allowances, selected engines, and payment details before confirming.

All purchases are final. We do not offer refunds. Cryptocurrency transfers may be irreversible; recovery of payments sent to an incorrect address or network cannot be promised. These terms do not limit refunds or other rights required by applicable law.

5. Results and availability

Scanning is an aid to analysis, not a guarantee of safety. Engines can miss threats, flag harmless files, become unavailable, or return incomplete results. You remain responsible for decisions made using a report. Service availability and uninterrupted access are not guaranteed.

6. Responsible use

Only upload files you have permission to analyze. Do not use Skanner to attack others, bypass access controls, disrupt infrastructure, or violate applicable law. Access may be restricted to protect the service and its users.

7. Advertising and supporting the site

Ads help support Skanner. We check whether first-party ad resources are blocked to control access to the scanning workspace; this check does not identify your extensions or send information to another service. Login, wallet funding, and these terms remain accessible.

Once your account has a confirmed wallet deposit, ads are removed from the rest of the site while you are connected to that account, even after the balance is spent. Scan report pages remain ad-supported for every account. We do not use your uploaded files, report contents, or account key for ad targeting. Ads are served by Adsterra in isolated ad frames. Adsterra may process connection and device information under its Privacy Policy. We do not send it your file contents, account key, or report URL.

8. Changes to these terms

The version above identifies the terms accepted at signup. Updated terms will be published here with a new version date. Changes do not remove rights you have under applicable law.
